To meet the demanding requirements of motion control applications in industrial automation and satisfy the needs of high-precision positioning control requested by machine designers and system integrators, Delta launched the high-performance motion control ASDA-A2 series servo motors and servo drives in 2009.

The current trend of motion control is to have the control command source close to the drive. To catch this trend, Delta developed the new ASDA-A2 series, offering excellent motion control function so that the external controller could be almost eliminated. ASDA-A2 series features a built-in electronic cam (E-CAM) function which is the best solution for flying shear, rotary cutoff and synchronized motion applications. The whole new position control Pr mode is a unique and most significant function that provides a variety of control modes and definitely enhances system performance. The advanced CANopen interface for high-speed communication enables the drive to integrate with other parts of the automation more efficiently and effectively. The full closed-loop control, auto notch filter, vibration suppression and gantry control functions help to perform complex motions that require high precision and smooth operation. The 20-bit superior resolution encoder which is essential for accurate positioning applications is equipped as standard. In addition, the outstanding Capture and Compare functions for high-speed pulses offer the best support for stepless positioning. Other additional functionality, such as up to 1kHz frequency response, innovative editing software and the high-speed PC monitoring function (like oscilloscope), etc. all drastically maximize the performance of ASDA-A2 series.

Features:
High Precision Control

  • ECMA series servo motors feature incremental encoder with 20-bit resolution (1280000 pulses/revolution). Existing functions to meet the requirements from delicate process have been enhanced. Stable rotation at low speed has also been achieved.
  • Up to 1kHz frequency response. Settling time below 1ms.

Superlative Vibration Suppression

  • Built-in automatic low-frequency vibration suppression (for crane control): two vibration suppression filters are provided to minimize the vibration at machine edges automatically and sufficiently.

  • Built-in automatic high-frequency resonance suppression: two auto notch filters are provided to suppress the mechanical resonance automatically.

Flexible Internal Position Mode (Pr Mode)

  • ASDA-A2-Soft configuration software provides internal parameter editing function for defining the path of each axis freely.
  • 64 internal position settings are offered for continuous motion control.
  • Destination position, speed and acceleration & deceleration commands could be changed in the middle of operation.
  • 35 kinds of homing modes are available.

Unique Built-in Electronic Cam (E-CAM)

  • Up to 720 E-CAM points.
  • Smooth interpolation between points can be completed automatically to yield a flexible programming.
  • ASDA-A2-Soft configuration software provides electronic cam (E-CAM) profile editing function.
  • Applicable for rotary cutoff and flying shear applications.

Full Closed-loop Control (Capable of reading second feedback signals)

  • Built-in position feedback interface (CN5) is able to read second feedback signals from motor encoder and send the current position back to the drive to form a full closed-loop so that high accuracy position control can be accomplished.
  • Reduce the effects of mechanical imperfections such as backlash and flexibility to ensure the position precision at machine edges.

Features of ASDA-A2-M:

  • CANbus communication speed is 1M bps, in comply with CANopen DS301 standard.
  • 3 CANmotion modes (Profile Position Mode, Interpolation Position Mode, Homing Mode) are provided for CANopen DS402 standard. Max. length of the communication cable can reach up to 40m (when using standard communication cable).
  • Station configuration can be set via parameter settings.
  • In conjunction with Delta’s PLC, it is able to save the wiring and establish Delta fieldbus system configuration.

The AB series is a high performance digital servo system with advanced functions and supports various motor options including low, medium and high inertia servo motors to meet different application needs. It offers many motion control functionalities for a wide range of industry and machine applications, as well as provided in the A series. In addition, the AB series implements Modbus communication protocol as a standard, to connect with Delta’s programmable logic controller (PLC) and human machine interface (HMI), and establish the advanced architecture of the communication control system.
Major applications include a vast range of machine tools and processing machines for various industries.

The A+ series is a new type of omnibearing integrated servo system with advanced functions. It is able to combine with medium / high servo motors from 3kW to 7.5kW ( torque output from 19.1 N-M to 47.74 N-M) and is equipped with incremental 20-bit (1280000 ppr) optical encoder, providing more accurate positioning control for high-precision processing industries or the machine applications where high responsiveness and stiffness is needed to reject high torque disturbances. With A and AB series, Delta provide a complete servo product line (from 100W to 7.5kW) to fully support our customers’ needs and offer various options for high torque applications.

The A series is an omnibearing integrated servo system with advanced functions. Not only pulse commands and analog voltage signal control, the A series also provides internal point-to-point position control mode (8 internal programmable registers) and offers various internal control functions such as: indexing, feed step control function, internal auto-running control mode, and move to Home function, etc. for a vast range of applications. In addition, the A series implements Modbus communication protocol as a standard, to perfectly meet the requirements of motion control applications for multiple points.

The B series is a digital servo system with standard functions. It provides built-in Position / Speed / Torque control modes and supports pulse command input and analog signal control. Parameters editing and operation is done via an optional handheld digital keypad. The gain tuning function allows easy operation and the internal memory blocks shorten the parameters upload and download time.
